Okay I am again WARNING those of you who are for teachers in Tacoma please do not read this blog.
I am sorry but I heard on the news they are the 4th highest paid teachers in this State and have one of the worst performance rates with the students in the State.
Before I get started on my soap box on this one, I want to make it clear I am totally for teachers and I agree they need to be paid fairly and yes if possible class sizes need to stop growing. I agree with them.
Here is my point: one it bugged me more than anything that they can sit there and chant “we teach Tacoma!” when they are on strike. No you are not teaching. If you taught Tacoma you would be in the class room doing your job.
Two: that they kept saying that they were doing this for their students. I am sorry I have a really hard time believing that. It felt like they were using the students as pawns for their strike.
Three: if you’re going to strike do it before you start school don’t start school for a week or less and then decide that you are going to strike. REALLY!
Four: When the average teacher makes 60,000 which it was reported they do please do not be greedy. When the State has no money they have no money. Sorry but be glad you have a job. Which brings me to the last point: When the economy is so hard why on earth would you go out and be striking? Instead of striking how about thanking God that you still have a job when millions of others do not?
Okay I could be totally wrong but I just get really ticked off when I see unions encourage their members to strike when so many others do not have a job and have honestly been looking for a job for a really long time. I do understand that not just anyone can be a teacher but the point is still the same please just be thankful you have a job and get back to class. Do your job and teach Tacoma.
